from 15.00

Second semester: January 7 - June 6

4-6 Introduction to Irish Music and Dance Program (PK, K, 1st)

  • 4-4:50 Dance Sampler (solo step and social dancing)

  • 4:50-5:10 Traditional “Tea” Break

  • 5:10-6 Songs & Storytelling (Drama)

SDD follows the DCPS calendar.

Students that need an aftercare option when school is out should contact Ms. Shannon, as she may hold “open studio” if there is a need.

The SDD early childhood program is designed to introduce young students to the Irish Arts in a fun and engaging environment. Dance, music, and storytelling (drama) are taught through games, explorations, and creative play.

To best accommodate PK/K afternoon attention spans and interest, each segment is 25 minutes in length, with a 20 minute traditional “tea break” in between the 2 segments.

The segments are intentionally broad in their titles, so that Shannon may introduce projects, materials, instruments, dances, skills, etc as determined by the group’s interest.

The goal is to engage students, and children will leave the class with context and skills that encourage confident participation in SDD’s multi-age events (social dances, sessions, etc), and other Irish community cultural events (sessions, festivals, etc).
